my GPU blew up scorch marks near the power connector after two years. I'm assuming I have bad wiring my lights flicker quite often in the house. So I need a good upgrade that wont break the bank till I can build a whole new system.. I'm looking at the 1050 ti right its about 150. Is there anything close to that price that's far better?

That flickering can be compounded to you owning a Thremaltake TR2 unit(I'm assuming from your sig'd space) which in reality is an expensive paperweight. The scorch marks on the GPU's power connections are also tell tale that the unit is the issue. If you must upgrade, you're going to need to upgrade your PSU to one that is as close to Tier 1 as possible and corresponds to the GPU in you intend to upgrade eventually.

Where are you located and how much do you have to spend(currency)? Are we dealing with the system in your sig space? If so then this is your specs for those of us who may find this thread relevant in another issue.

Specs:
AMD FX-6300
msi-970a-G46
8GB DDR3
Gigabyte 650 ti BoostOC2gb
Thermaltake TR2...

If you must go for a GPU upgrade, go for one that is at least 3 tiers higher. The GTX1060 6GB would be a better upgrade for you provide the processor wont offer any bottlenecks.

Nothing better no, it's the best choice at it's price. You can save a little for almost as good performance in the 1050 but I wouldn't personally.

Also consider a UPS to protect the PC and get the house wiring looked at maybe. I don't think putting up with flickering lights is wise, what if next time something goes it starts a fire.

Can be anything though, I've twice seen flickering lights caused by an ant trail through a light switch and a pile of dead ants inside the switch.
