My laptop doesn't start unless it is plugged in by adapter to a power outlet, though the battery shows 96% charged. it doesn't work on its battery. Please help

Solution
Is the battery removable at all? If it is, remove the battery, hold in the power button for a minute, plug in the battery and see if it works after that. If you can't remove the battery, unplug from wall power, hold in the button for a minute or a bit more, plug in the charger, hold in the power for about a minute see if it turns on OK after that on battery.

That laptop should be new enough to be in warranty, did you contact ASUS already?

Oh my goodness. I had the exact same issue with mine. Same model and brand. I sent it in to Asus because it was under warranty. They don't pay for shipping or packaging. When they sent it back they didn't include any information on what the problem was and what they did to it. Now a month later and I'm still having the SAME issue. I'm tempted to sell it and get a new one .

Try this..
1. Turn on your laptop with power cord connected.
2. Device manager>Batteries
And disable Microsoft AC adapter and Microsoft ACPI...
3. Shutdown
4. Remove power cord and start with battery. It should start.
5. After restarting enable them back.
