Best mobo for ryzen 3 1200?

Solution

I think the quad core should be enough. I'd get the 1200 with the 1060 6GB, especially if your overclocking.

Plus AM4 will be supported until 2020 according to AMD so technically you should be able to drop in a Zen Plus CPU in the future.

No I dont need the micro atx for the size I have a atx case in mind as you can see in my build. my only question is if the micro atx is better value than the atx version of the b350 mobo in an atx size case. I do think that the atx is better because I will only get 8 gb of ram so I can upgrade it in the future more easily. But I don't really know the difference between the manufactures/brand so I need a opinion from an other person that knows more than me.(this is my first build)
Ps I want to overclock it to get more out of the build so keep that in mind too.

Ok thanks for the advice. Can you recommend a b350 atx motherboard for me because that whould save me a lot of time. Btw if you have any tips for noobs on overclocking this build that whould be nice :)

Edit: how big of a power supply do I need for overclocking this build?

Just changjng the case & PSU gets you a hyper threaded ryzen 5 1400 in for the same money.

My local store sells the other case so l think that I'm going to get the other one. Thanks for the psu advice I am going to change to that. But do you really think that 50gbp for hyperthreaded CPU is worth it?

If you can afford it, by all means yes. Hyperthreading can help significantly, even in games with quad core CPUs.

^ while the 1200 is absolutely great value I do think the 1400 has much much better future proofing.

The 1400 is still incredible value , Infact the 1200 is the only chip that does make it look even slightly expensive.

If you can afford the 1400 by swapping the PSU then I would.

Plus a 550W G2 is kinda overkill (just wish they made a g2 450W). The CX430W should be enough for overclocking.

Just as an example, I'm running a gtx 1060 6GB overclocked, 16GB of 3200mhz RAM and a Ryzen 7 1700X and i can't even get to 50% usage on my G3 550W.

The only issue with the ryzen 1200 vs 1400 (on a set budget) is that that extra £50 would actually net you a 1960 6gb near as dammit.

If it had to be a choice because of total cost I think I'd likely take a ryzen 1200 + 1060 6gb over a ryzen 1400 + 1060 3gb.

The 3gb 1060 is not a card I'm (& I'm not alone) fond of , the 6gb is boundless amounts stronger.

Madmatt30 and teckyaz the only issue with picking the 1060 6gb over the 3gb is that the price to prefomence is way less on the 6gb version. Btw what does the extra 3gb do for the prefomence? And does the extra 3gb help with overclocking? Personally I don't think that the 10% perfomence increase is worth the 25 or so % price increase.

How about on pubg and other casual games. I don't really play a lot of AAA games and don't plan on to. Do you still think it is worth the upgrade?
