Games that I would previously be able to run at 60+ fps on max settings are now running at 12~ fps and the audio stutters during this. It was working perfectly fine not even 24 hours ago. I tried looking at temps and usage but everything is normal. Is there any things that could be causing this? I'm guessing that its a GPU or CPU problem but i'm not sure how to go about trouble shooting it as I am relatively new to working with PCs. Thanks in advance.

Specs:
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti
CPU: Intel i7-4790k
MEM: 16 GB
Mobo: ASRock fatal1ty z97
PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W 80+ gold

Solution
Could be a lot of things.
Try removing the GPU and use the IGPU to eliminate that as a cause.
Could be damaged capacitors on the mobo, failing PSU, too high temperatures etc.

I'd try this:

Boot into safe mode w/ network.
Download and install Malwarebytes, Avast, CCleaner and DDU.
Run a full scan with Malwarebytes and Avast.
Run CCleaner.
Run DDU.
Restart computer.
Download and install nvidia drivers.
Run CCleaner.

When running malwarebytes it found 25 potential threats so I quarantined them. Computer is looking like it might be fixed, but the only problem is now that this has happened a problem that I ran into a while ago has surfaced again. Everytime I launch a game, take overwatch for example, I get into the menus and after about 30~ seconds my keyboard LEDs turn off and my computer restarts.I also have no idea how to fix this or what is causing it.
