12GB 1600mhz
Asus rampage iii extreme
Gtx 970

Oh, I agree, but we both have no idea the level or qualification of the OP asking the question.
I posted, yeah the X5760 is better than the I7 9xx series first, but warned the "manufacturer and support web site" state.. not compatible.

I don't answer with a personal aspect unless I can back it up, sorry its the 40+ in the industry in me that has beaten that style of answer :) I am not going to start reading hundreds of posts, gaging the qualification of the answers and explanation and decide for the OP if it is something he should do.

One would think he will take the link you so graciously provided to him to go forth and take both answers and figure out what he should do based on the knowledge of his own skills.
well the question your asking is two fold;

technical: does upgrading to an x5760 worth the upgrade from i7-950, according to passmark.com they score the cpus side by side this way, looks like a great idea.. but wait read on.

your motherboard according to both theses sites : only supports I7 chipset not the X series cpu's at all
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/Rampage_III_Extreme.html
https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/RAMPAGE_III_EXTREME/HelpDesk_CPU/

sorry the answer would be, the x5760 isn't compatible with your motherboard

Is it a better CPU ?? Yes
Will it make a difference on csgo & pubg ?? No ,not at all - they barely make use of 2-3 threads at best.

The issue is whether you'd hit a similar overclock as you have now on it.

That said at $25 I'd take a punt on it anyway personally , that's pennies really & worst case you'll get roughly the same performance on single threaded stuff & an increase on other apps that can make use of the threads.

yes quite possibly, but telling someone to use an non official compatible cpu is not a responsible way of supporting users, if the system fails for what ever reason., the person telling them, "sure go ahead", would be pointed by a finger.

Are there a number of things on the internet claimed to work, sure, are there a vast majority of claims that are wrong yes, personally I have not known anyone that has done this, therefore cannot say, "sure go ahead whats the worst that can happen?"
