My old and trusty PC recently died on me and I went out and bought a stopgap computer to keep me going until I can afford to build a new PC from scratch. Only problem with the replacement is that it came preloaded with Windows 10, which I personally hate - it also won't work with a few of my older programs. So I decided to go with a clean install of Windows 7 and everything worked fine except one thing - I cannot get the damn thing to recognize the router and home network we use, even though it's directly connected. It keeps saying that there's driver issues every time I troubleshoot it, but of course how can I resolve a driver issue of it can't connect to the internet? It worked perfectly fine with Windows 10 so clearly the machine is having a temper tantrum with 7. I tried the standard things like disconnecting the router and turning it off and on. I also tried turning off the PC and disconnecting it from the power as well. Zip.
One last point. I could have sworn that the issue with my old PC was that the graphics card had died, but when I ordered in a replacement it still wouldn't work - as far as the monitor is concerned it's not connected. What else could it be? The mobo or the processor? The PC seems to power up okay when I turn it on, and all the lights and meters on the front of the panel come on.
