Hey guys I am a new builder. This is my first build and I am having some issues with the cpu. I know that the 7700k tends to run on the hotter side but this seems a little hot. My idle temps can be from 40 to 50C! And I have seen my temps reach 90 to 100C on a full load. I have tried getting new thermal paste and that didn't worked either. I am not over clocking and I run at 4.2 GHz. Please let me know what is going on. I use Corsair link and
Msi After burner to get temps.

You gotta remember the i7-7000k's get pretty hot, with my NZXT Kraken x62 with silent cooling settings on the CAM software I get max 64c under 100% load, that was after applying new thermal paste (Arctic Silver 5) before I was getting 70c at max load, also I'm OC to 4.8ghz

Maybe mess around with your voltage settings and try to get the lowest amount of voltage to where your system remains stable, I was able to get mine down to 1.234

My PC also has a 7700k and an H100i v2, and the idle and load temps are usually around 30 C and 70 C, respectively. Ties in to Corsair itself's test of the 7700k tied with the H100i v2. So that's what your temperatures SHOULD be, then.
I'm not really that experienced with this kind of stuff, just thought I'd say this.
The only real thing I can think of recommending is to make sure your PC fans are set up to provide good airflow. Changing the direction of my fans on my H100i v2 to give the case better airflow actually lowered my CPU temperatures by about 5 C.

Hey guys thanks for all of the info, I put some new paste on the cpu the other wasn't spread evenly. It helped reduced it a lot. Now I have an average temp of 75C when gaming. The only time it goes about 80 is during a Vegas 14 render then it reaches 95 :(. Not sure if that is normal.

One other quick question. It says that my pump is running on the h100i but the fan isn't. But I can physically see it moving.

No problem I can guarantee that's why yours is running hot, if you keep the voltages set to auto it's gonna pull unnecessary voltage which makes the CPU run hotter, just mess around with your voltage settings and everytime you change the voltage run AIDA64 for like 10-30 minutes and see if your computer is stable and the temps are good

If you need anymore help let me know
