HI first time asking a question on here as I can usually find answers somewhere in this great community but I've found mixed results with this one.

I'm looking at getting an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti or a GTX 1060 and I just want to know how much they would bottleneck (if they even bottleneck enough to care). Essentially I'm trying to gauge if its worth spending the money on either of them or if i should find a cheaper second hand card.

Specs:
Mobo: Asus P8Q77-M
CPU: Intel i7-2600
Ram: 8GB
PSU: Thermaltake 550w
Case: Thermaltake Versa H25
Cpu Cooler: Antec A30 (shitty ring shaped mount that presses against the capacitors blocking the clip so you have to mount it blowing toward the top back corner)

A PCIE gen 2 slot running at x16 will do just fine. The bandwidth is plenty for a GTX 1060.

I had a similarly powerful R9 390 running on gen 2, and after upgrading CPU's and switching to a motherboard that supported gen 3, I experienced no measurable difference in graphics performance.
