i have an i5 6500 as my current cpu. i bought another cpu wich is the same exact model as my current cpu i5 6500. everything was fine with my rig but when i replaced the cpu to try out the one that i bought . (i didnt mess with any other components), just the cpu and now my system wont boot anymore.the ram led is lit. my ram was placed in slot 2 and 4. then i tried to boot with only one ram in slot 2 it works then i swapped the ram with the other to check if the other ram is faulty but its not both rams are ok then i tried putting ram in slot one and slot two, it works. but when i try to dual channel again(tried slot 1 and 3, 2 and 4 again) it wont work.

why is this happening? i refuse to believe that my mobo is faulty because it is only 3 months old and it works fine with the other cpu.

how can i do dual channel again? or is it fine to just do 2x8gb single channel meaning the rams are in slots 1 and 2? will there be any difference?

mobo is a asus z170-a and ram is a team dark 2x8 kit

but its working fine just not in dual channel ram. temps and all are ok. i even played on it and its ok. will a cpu work fine if its seated incorrectly?

it is recognizing the 16 gb ram just not in dual channel. is there a big difference? between 2x8gb in dual and single channel?

now i tried putting i single ram on the 3rd, 4th slot it wont boot. could it be that the 3rd and 4th slot is faulty? the red light is constantly changing from the ram to the cpu red light.
