What's better, 2 different systems:
1) GTX 1060 3gb With 8 GB ddr4 ram
2) GTX 1050Ti 4gb With 16 GB ddr4 ram

Which one of the 2 is better for gaming?

Solution
No problem. Call "Larry the Laptop Guy" ... we have been having all our laptops custom by Clevo distributors for a dozen years. The last 9 or 10 have been thru Larry.

oh ok,
1) 1920x1080 screen res
i7-6700hq 4 cores (2,6 Ghz - Max: 3,5 Ghz)
8gb ddr4 ram
1TB HDD 7200rpm
128 gb SSD
GTX 1060 3gb

2) 1920x1080 screen res
i7-7700hq 4 cores (2,8 Ghz - 3,8 Ghz)
16gb ddr4 ram
1TB hdd 7200rpm
275 gb SSD
GTX 1050Ti 4gb

these are 2 different systems which one would do better.
hope this is enough information.

While nVidia rules the roost from the 1060 on up, I would consider a RX 570 over the 1050 Ti. As for the given choice, which is better will depend on the situation, mainly the game in question.... tho in most cases the 1060 will be the better choice. Id suggest a 3rd option and save the $44 necessary and get the 2 x 8GB and 1060.

looking at the revised specs, if you look at the benchmarks, the performance between the 7700 and 6700 is miniscule and the mobile versions show similar differentials

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1826?vs=1543

OTOH, the difference in performance between the GFX card is enormous with the 1060 finishing in 32nd place and the 1050 Ti in 55th

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Games-on-Laptop-Graphics-Cards.13849.0.html

Dirt 4 High settings 90.2 fps on 1060 / 74.2 on 1050 Ti (1060 is 22% faster)
BF 1 High settings 77.4 fps on 1060 / 56.7 on 1050 Ti (1060 is 37% faster)
Doom High settings 97.0 fps on 1060 / 66.4 on 1050 Ti (1060 is 46% faster)
Rise of the Tomb raider High settings 71.2 fps on 1060 / 45.8 on 1050 Ti (1060 is 55% faster)
Witcher 3 High settings 67.6 fps on 1060 / 46.7 on 1050 Ti (1060 is 46% faster)

Now let's look again at the CPUs. Clearly the ranking alone dispels the myth that the CPUs generation has a significant effect on gaming with the two CPUs placing much closer at 49th and 70th respectively,

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html

Intel 7700HQ has a performance rating of 82.2
Intel 6700HQ has a performance rating of 75.5

Making the 7700HQ only 8.8% faster than the 6700HQ ... clearly no where near enough to make up for the up to 55% difference provided by the GFX cards.

However, there really isn't a reason to actially choose... you can have a laptop built exactly to your specifications. ... why not consider both by having the laptop built with 7700HQ, 1060 and 16GB of RAM ?

What's your budget range ?

Thanks for all the info.

1300 is my max

Do you recommend any websites to order if I am going for a 7700hq, 16gb ram and 1060 card?

Notes:

1. Clevo does not allow their distributors to sell below a certain "price floor" ... you can however "negotiate" whatever discount you can agree on. These are "price dependent", the more yoou spend, the bigger discount you can negotiate. I'm sure you can get below the $1300 budget limit.

2. Credit Card companies charge the seller about 3% ... so you can save 3% by paying
"cash" which is defined as "Online Bank payments, Bank Wire Transfers, Bill Pay, Sure Pay, Checks & Money Orders. I pay by business check ... you can also make a deposit at any Wells Fargo Bank. personal checks work also but they have to clear first (unless drawn on Wells Fargo bank account). More here:

https://lpc-digital.com/faq/

3. A 15" model would be about $40 cheaper.

4. You could save $45 by skipping the 5400 rpm hard drive and getting a 7200 rpm SSHD.

$79 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178995
$99 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178996
Extra savings w/ promo code EMCRJRJ29, ends 8/10

The net increase in cost will be $55 and I expect the total cost after discount with the 2 TB SSHD will be between $1300 and 41325 ... Opt for the WD SSD instead of the Samsung Evo and I think you can get to $1300-$1305.

Remember the SSD only helps ya with stuff on the SSD and most of your gaming library will not be there. The SSHD will increase gaming loads speed to at least twice as fast as the 5400 rpm drive

If the next concern is ... "I never heard of Clevo", well you never heard of who actually made just about every laptop you ever did hear of. The vast majority of laptops on the market are manufactured by a small handful of Taiwan-based Original Design Manufacturers (ODM), although their production bases are located mostly in mainland China. Major relationships include:

Quanta sells to (among others) HP, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Sony, Fujitsu and NEC
Compal sells to (among others) Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo and HP/Compaq
Wistron (former manufacturing & design division of Acer) sells to Dell, Acer, Lenovo and HP
Inventec sells to Toshiba, HP, Dell and Lenovo
Pegatron sells to Asus, Toshiba, Apple, Dell and Acer
Foxconn sells to Asus, Dell, HP and Apple
Flextronics (former Arima Computer Corporation notebook division) sells to HP
Clevo is best known and the manufacturer of Alienware laptops, before Dell purchased the company but sells to numerous boutique laptop providers

http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-guide-v2-0-faq-and-reseller-info.91510/

CLEVO is a large Taiwanese computer company specializing in laptops. While the Clevo brand name is perhaps not widely known, their products are re-branded and sold by known boutique brand OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)… notably Sager, VoodooPC, [WidowPC], Falcon Northwest, Eurocom, etc. They are also considered (by whoever knows about notebooks) to design and manufacturer the best of the best notebooks in terms of superior build quality and innovative designs.
