Low FPS on good computer

So, i like to play GTA 5, Minecraft and other games like that. I have the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 (7559) which has an i7, Quad Core, 8G Ram, GTX 960 and generally good specs, and with minecraft i bearly reach 100 fps which is mad because technically I should be getting 500 fps+.

Please help?

to be fair, a gtx960 isn't the best, but it could also depend on your settings including any mods you have in the game or texture packs, also what mhz is your ram? also might want to try something like cortex to help ur gaming fps, closes out unnecessary stuff in the background during games.
