I have bought 2x4gb ddr3 1600MHz ram for my gigabyte ga 41m combo mobo. The modules are Zeppelin 1600 4GB DDR3 i have reinstalled them probebly several times but the mobo keepe beeping continuously on startup. So can any one help me
Reply to Zerk2012 I tried resetting CMOS and I installed the new modules but it didn't work.. I think I should only buy sticks that are verified by my motherboard manufacturer
Like I said newer high density memory with a older board usually don't work.
Use this scanner tool it guarantees compatibility if you buy from them. http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner
You can try reseting CMOS but on some of the older boards the memory controller will not work with todays newer memory that uses the higher density parts to make the memory.
Reply to Zerk2012 is it safe to do that, by the way I can ue my old 1x2gb module in case I wanted to boot up but is there anyway to make the new sticks work after booting from old ram?
Yes it is safe to reset CMOS and is always recommended after hardware changes like the memory and processor.
If you were using the DDR2 in the board then it needs to be reset for the new DDR3 memory. Remove the old memory install the new memory reset CMOS and see if it will boot.
