I need help making a PC

So I recently bought a GTX 1050 ti Sc but, I soon found out that it doesn't work on my pre built Lenovo H50-50. So now I'm not sure if I should make an entirely new computer or sell the card my friend offered it to me for $80 but I bought it for $150 and I haven't even used the card so it might be too little. Anyways, I was thinking that I could use my current 1 tb hard drive (If I format it can I still use windows?) and 8 gb of ram. Also, I'm not sure if I could re use my Intel core i3 but if not I'm fine with getting a new one too if I can't transfer a processor. Anyways, my question is what other parts should I get other than the hard drive, ram, monitor, and graphics card for a new gaming computer. (Preferably new parts under $500) Thank you!
