Can't boot from USB on new PC build

I have just finished my new PC build and am not able to boot from the USB. I have held every key recommended (ESC, F1-F12, and CTRL) eith no luck. It seems the initial splash screen will not read an input. It say "Press DEL or F2 to enter UEFI BIOS setting" but does nothing if I press those keys. Once on the next screen I can press F1 to enter the BIOS. I have been on the phone with Asus support a few times and eventually get disconnected after we have exhausted our efforts. I will provide all the specs below. Hopefully someone can help me get up and running.

Motherboard: Asus Maximus ix Hero
CPU: i7-7700k
GPU: Asus STRIX 1080 ti OC edition
2x16GB G.Skill Ripjaws @3200
H100i V2 AIO cooler

Note: Q Code at the top reads "A2" with the 4th (Yellow Green) light on and the Manual says this means IDE Detect for the Boot. I have also updated it to the latest BIOS version (1009 x64). I am at a loss, please help!

Finally able to get it to BOOT. Did not see the BOOT override option in the BIOS... All the way at the bottom of the boot page you can select the flash drive and double click it to force it to BOOT from there.
The A2 error mostly arises when components are not connected properly. I would advice you to remove and reconnect the connections again properly. A little slack or loose or not snug connection will probably cause this error. Mobo are a hard ass in this case. If everything is connected properly, you can access bios and set uefi boot to USB and load through that.

Took your advice and reconnected everything and left out a few things to simplify the diagnosis. I now have Q code "A9" which is Start of Setup with the BOOT LED on. I still can't get this thing to BOOT from USB by hold ESC or any other key during startup. Is there another way to get this to BOOT? This is my first build so maybe there is something obvious I am missing?
