Nothing ever works anymore

When I first got my computer, it was basically a handmedown. It's a hp envy, and I got it to play Fallout 4. I had to get a one of those graphic card things, so I got the Nvidia (?) GeForce GT 730. At first it worked great, and then I got skyrim, still worked great. However, since I got the card, when my computer starts up the hp logo thing is all the way on the right, only half showing. And everything else that happens while not logged in shows up there as well, like the windows memory diagnostic thing. And now, nothing is working. Fallout 4, Ark survival evolved, heck, even skyrim, can't go above the lowest graphic quality. Recently I had to restart my computer because of a hack virus thing, but it works fine except for the game stuff. The Geforce experience thing is telling me it's my system, so what do I do? I'm also not well versed in computer language, so your probably going to have to dumb things down a bit for me. Thank you so much to anyone who answers

Thats a pretty good cpu, only 1-2 years old, the graphics card is a long horizontal card than inside your computer, it will come out on the back with some plugs to plug it your screen into, is your screen plugged into it ?, it is a pretty bad card though, if you want a cheap but effective card i would recommend this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MG15JZS/ref=psdc_430524031_t2_B01N0OZ1Z5

Dont wanna sound patronising but are you aware of what drivers are ?, if so have you got the most up to date drivers

I would assume you have the drivers since you have geforce experience. Go to the driver tab in geforce experience what driver version is installed?

What cpu do you have? Not to be rude but the GT 730 is a slug that I would never recommend to anyone, it likely barely outperforms the integrated graphics of your cpu. I doubt it would run fallout 4 or ark at a playable framerate at any settings, it is well below the recommend specs for fallout 4 and ark. Skyrim should at least be playable however.

A driver is a piece of software that makes a component in your computer work. You will have a graphics card driver to make your graphics card work. Have you got any discs with your computer ?. To get the latest drivers for your graphics card go here https://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers

I see your PM but I will respond on here, dont worry about downvoting my answer !. What seems apparent is you dont have much experience with computers, or it simply doesnt interest you which is fine. What I suggest is maybe buying a pre-built machine if you can afford to do, it will come with a warranty so if you have any issues you have can have it fixed. But if you want to educate your self we would be happy to help.

That would be the correct and latest driver so no issue there. Are you plugging your display cable from your monitor into the back of the gpu and not the motherboard?

Okay so apparently my CPU says 2.70ghz (4 CPUs) and I don't think I can afford a new computer, but i think this one is pre built like you said. Should I go see if i can get a new graphic card, or should I just see about a new computer? And ill check the motherbord think really quick.

It says intel (r) core (tm) i5-6400 CPU. Also i don't know what to look for with the motherboard and gpu and display cable. I only have one cable in the computer besides the power one.
