I tried to overclock a core i7 870 to 4ghz which it should be able to do. I have the gigabyte H110m Pro-D motherboard and 8gb of ram installed. After overclocking (or attempting to) the PC started and the fans spun but nothing showed on the screen. As if there was no input. I have taken out the mobo battery and unplugged the psu and then held in the power button for about 2 min. Still haven't solved my issue.

I'm all sorts of confused with your issue.

As far as I'm aware, overclocking tends to be using the Z chipset motherboards. There are other forms like BLCK overclocking I'm aware of, but that would require other factors I believe. And didn't Intel release some form of update to prevent that?

Secondly, as far as I'm aware the i7-870 isn't compatible with an H110m Pro-D; different sockets. I would hope nothing has been damaged if indeed these are the components you used.
