I have a stock cooler and the cpu is at stock speeds. Ambient temperature is 25 degrees celsius. My cpu at the moment has an average temperature of 44.6 degrees celsius while im copying my steam library to another drive and i have steam open in the background. Are these temperatures ok? Seems way to high especially since the max temp was 58.9 degrees celsius. The average system temp is 38.9 degrees celsius.
Once again are these temps normal?

Solution
i think the answer is the following:

1. Your current temps aren't too high. I would say 5 degrees on the high side. But probably typical with the stock cooler.
2. Get an aftermarket cooler. Will help reduce temps.
3. Currently you have some headroom to OC. Just keep in mind a better cooler will help achieve a higher OC.
4. If you OC make sure your full load temps don't go over 80c or so. If they do, back the OC down a little so temps are where you want them.

I'm not a cooler expert, but lots of the guys on here would suggest a Noctua NH D15 or a CM Hyper 212. They seem to be good picks for price/performance. They are maybe not meant for extreme OC'ing, but sufficient for moderate OC'ing.

it seems a little high to me. Mine idles at about 33-35, 45-55 gaming, and OC'd to 3.85 (not much of an OC i know, I'm still playing with it) full load temps (prime95 small FFT's) 77c ish.

I'd agree with Hardware Brad. Temps aren't at danger level or anything. You could maybe try a better cooler to see if that helps. I use the Wraith Max RGB which is rated for 140w and it seems to do a great job. I haven't played around with fan curves on the CPU or OC'ing the GPU yet.
