I'm looking for a good RAID enclosure (offers RAID 0/1/5) to fit 4 hard drives in as I'm looking to expand my growing storage needs with greater speed than a single external drive can give me.

What kinds of speeds can I expect to see with RAID 0,RAID 1 and RAID 5? I ask because I want to know if it's worth using RAID 5 or if it's better to simply get 2 drives set in RAID 0 for full performance when editing 4K video and another pair of drives set in a separate RAID 1 enclosure that I will back up to each night?

I have a MacBook Pro with Retina Display (late 2013 model) so I can use a USB-C to USB 3 (A connector) for now and when I get a future laptop, make use of full USB-C speeds so I'm thinking about current and future needs too.

I'm based in the UK so links to UK based sites would be helpful here.

I've never used RAID drives before though I studied the basics of RAID (re 0/1/5/6) and have decided that it's time to use RAID to boost performance, storage and even redundancy.

Can anyone help me out here before buying a RAID enclosure?

I've decided that I'll use the WD Red Pro or WD Gold drives as I saw impressive speeds from them on Macs (from youtube videos I saw that showed 241MB/s write for the WD Gold drive as a single drive). :)
