Hello everyone. I just had a question about RAM compatibility.

See, I currently have 8GB of RAM in my system and want to upgrade to 16GB. The problem is, one of my RAM slots is being blocked by my CPU cooler. >.>

I currently have 2x4GB of ADATA XPG (Model Number: AX3U1600W4G9-DB) https://www.amazon.com/ADATA-1600MHz-Memory-Modules-AX3U1600W4G9-DB/dp/B00F902ON2?th=1

So I was wondering, if I got a single stick of 8GB ADATA XPG (Model Number: AX3U1600W8G9-RB) and paired it with my current kit, will it be compatible? I have a feeling that it will, but I just need a second opinion for clarification, just to be sure. Thank you all in advance! :)

Solution
RAM can be very finicky and I do not recommend mixing and matching RAM, even if it is the same model number and size. Even more since you are considering mixing a 2x4gb kit with an 8gb stick.

RAM is sold in kits as it is tested to work together. I would go buy a 16gb kit to use and sell the 2x4gb kit you currently have.
