Hello,

Looking for some help with installing my new graphics card. For starters here are my specs...

Old GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960
New GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition
CPU: Intel i5 4460 @ 3.2 GHz
Motherboard: AS Rock Z97 Pro 3
OS: Windows 10 - 64bit
Power Supply: Corsair CX600M
Ram: 8GB

If any additional information is needed from my parts please let me know.

So what I did was I took out my old GTX 960 card and I replaced it with the GTX 1080. I connected a dvi cord directly from the graphics card to my monitor. When I powered my pc on the graphics card's lights lit up and the fan was spinning as well. I connected the 8-pin power connector to my power supply so the card itself seems to be getting power and is okay in that aspect. However, when the pc booted up, nothing was displayed to my monitor.

So I've been trying a number of things to correct this issue. I looked into forums and tried watching YouTube videos. Nothing has worked yet. So since this has happened I have been using my onboard graphics to use my computer in the mean time.

What I have tried so far...
I downloaded Display Driver Uninstaller and then downloading the new drivers for the 1080 card. I've just tried downloading the 384.94 version of the driver. When I try downloading the driver it says that a NVidia card could not be found.
Another important issue that is not easy for me to solve is that my card is not detected in the device manager.

If you have any further questions please let me know. Any help will be much appreciated. This is very frustrating, especially since I invested a lot of money into the card.

Thank you!

Solution
With your Onboard Graphics card (remove your GPU), go to Device Manager > Display Adapters > Disable whatever in there. Shut down your PC, install your GPU, power on, see what happens.

Here's a start! Thank you Gahl1k! That worked...I am not sure what I did differently this time but my card seemed to fit better into my motherboard. I was not able to screw in the holder screw before but now I was able to.

Will I just need to update my driver for the card? It is showing Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in Device Manager.
