Ive recently upgraded some parts of my pc (got an x370 gaming k5 motherboard, and a ryzen 1600) and i have noticed that my gpu temp has spiked from an average of 70C to 85-90C. im having a hard time figuring it out since my fan position has not changed. i have a gtx 960 if anyone is wondering. if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked all the usual stuff like making sure the GPU's fan and heatsink are clean of dust? What is the ambient temperature of where you live when the GPU heats up? Also what are you using to control the GPU, have you a fan curve set up? Even the average of 70C could possibly be improved, but heading towards 90 is getting too hot.
