Hi Guys!

I need some help, here's my situation.
I have a Net-Dyn AC600 chipset is MT7610U b/g/n/ac but my computer detects it as Qualcomm AR9485 b/g/n. I went to a internet cafe to check the chipset of the adapter and the computer detects it as MT7610U b/g/n/ac. what is the cause and how can I correct the issue?

Regards,

Julian

What's the specific model number? If I'm correct, there is an installed mini-PCI(Half) wireless card in the tower and most likely there's some sort of weird conflict going on between the 2 devices. If that's the case, I'd recommend turning off the computer, removing the mini-PCI wireless card, turning on the computer, then plugging in the USB stick.

Sounds like it would be an incorrect driver installed. Best bet, I believe, would be to download the correct drivers, uninstall and delete the old drivers, then install the new and correct drivers.

It's plug and play, I already uninstalled then download the correct driver and manually install it then checked the device manager/cmd/speccy and it's the same Qualcomm AR9485.

Even though it's plug n play, it still requires drivers to be installed. When the device is connected, Windows will use the Hardware ID to identify the device and install the best driver it has (or believes it has) for the device. This is why deleting the old drivers is important because if it believes those drivers are the best, then it'll use those drivers.

I've never used this tool, so I can't speak for it, but you might try it for deleting the old drivers (generally newer versions of Windows offers to delete drivers when uninstalling, but not always).

Go into Device Manager and then the properties for the wireless card you're working with. Click on "details" then in the "Property" choose "Hardware ID" and provide us what's in that field.

Actually, the Card you're getting from the device manager appears to be an internal card and is not an incorrect identification of the USB stick. It seems like the computer is not recognizing the usb wireless being plugged in.

That's the problem, I already talk to the manufacturer and they confirmed that they never use Qualcomm for their adapters, they only use Mediatek. So I went to the Internet cafe and test this particular adapter and boom! in the Internet cafe this particular adapter is listed as Mediatek but in my computer it is registered as Qualcomm! What is happening?

The problem I'm getting here is that the Qualcomm you reference is a PCI half card that is installed in a slot on the motherboard (generally bottom of a laptop) and it's not a USB device. The fact that the Hardware ID identifies a PCI device supports this thought as well. So, if the USB is being detected as a PCI device, then I'd say you have a problem with Windows. I'm pretty sure a USB device is identified as a USB on the hardware ID.

There's no reason why it would identify as a PCI device considering it's a USB device. Without being there in person, the only thing I could say is that it could be corrupted USB drivers or a corruption in Windows.

What kind of computer do you have?
