Hi!

I'm currently looking to replace my two GTX 580 Super Overclock SLI, was thinking on buying the GTX 1070 STRIX. I will mostly use it for games such as CS:GO, Dota2 and PUBG (PlayerUnkownsBattleground). I will be playing in 144Hz, 1080p.

My question is, will it bottleneck with my CPU?

Specs:

Mobo: Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z

CPU: Intel i7 2700K (O.C 4.2 GHz)

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2 x 8GB 1600MHz DDR3

PSU: Corsair AX1200

i would make sure your motherboard bios is the latest version just to be safe

cant remember how far back that pcs cant support a gtx1070 from

ie--some older pcs will just give a blank screen with a gtx1070

but dont know if earlier z68 bios will be ok

or if you need the latest one for your board

will probably be ok but having the latest bios wont hurt just in case

You're talking about a 144Hz monitor, so I that case it can hold you back a little, compared to for example the I7 7700K.
But it's not worth it upgrading, especially if you have overclocked the 2700k.

Interesting YouTube video:

Keep in mind, in the video the 2700K is not overclocked. So if you overclock it, it will give you better results. In some games the gap is pretty big, but when you overclock the 2700K, the difference will be smaller.

I think you are still going to see very nice FPS with the 1070, even though your 2700k is not a spring chicken. The decent OC helps, and depending what cooler you got on, you can pull more juice out of it. None of those games are super demanding.
