Hey there!

Would I be able to do some light video editing with the following specs from this laptop I'm thinking about getting?

Specs:
Intel i3 Dual Core i3-7100H (3.00GHz) 3MB Cache
8GB Corsair 2133MHz DDR4
INTEL HD 630 1.7 Max DDR4 Video RAM - DirectX 12
500GB Serial Ata 32MB Cache 7200 RPM

I also want to also use the laptop for some light Gimp image editing and with Reaper for producing and recording.

Would this be enough? Any suggestions on something I should change?

Thanks in advance, wish you a great day!

Dedicated graphics are hard to export/render the video with....for an HD video it could take hours....light video chopping and audio is easy (I use premiere pro). Rendering or applying effects while editing will greatly stress the integrated graphics. It could take hours just to export a 10min HD video. If your looking to upgrade I would get a small dedicated graphics card. Otherwise if you do anything more then just very simple chopping and audio it may crash and be very laggy.....Good Luck!

Thanks for the input mate!

After some pondering, I'm going with a i5 7300HQ (quad core instead of dual) and a GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB). That way I'm set. Does simple fade ins and outs count as effects? What about putting some text on the videos (tittle and credits, as well as hardcoded subs)? Thanks in advance, wish you a great day friend!

Your old specs may handle fade-ins
But with an i5 and GTX 1050 you should do great with almost all effects :)

I have an i7 with GTX 1060 and it’s great for editing....so a 1050 should be fine! Will definitely be MUCH better than integrated graphics! And like I said you should be able to handle almost all possible transitions! Just turn down preview quality while editing if it gets slow! Like I edit most videos in 1/4 quality and render it out in full quality

But you will have much faster speeds and overall editing stability!

A good day to you to friend!! :)
