Switched Internet Provider, downloads are great but browsing is terrible (only on my desktop PC)

Hi everyone. I wonder if any of you have any insight on the problem I'm having. Recently I switched internet providers (went from DSL to Cable) and my download speeds went from 5.0 Mbps to 25 Mbps and upload went from about 0.5 Mbps to 5.5 Mbps. Everything works perfectly on all wireless devices except for my PC, which is hardwired to the modem. This only started immediately after going to the new cable modem.
The problem I'm having is with browsing the internet. Some webpages just refuse to load or take an extremely long time to load while other webpages load great with no issues. Sometimes Gmail will not load; the loading bar gets to about 90% full then stops. When it does load, I cannot upload a single picture to send in an email; the blue loading bar just sits there. Now, I THINK (but am not certain) that the problem is with https sites. For example, fast.com will not work in showing my download speed (bounces somewhere around 250 Kbps or something silly) but speedtest.net works just fine. And it felt like it took a year just to log into this site and post this. Any site that requires logging in has been a problem.
Like I said before, my tablets work flawlessly; it's only on my desktop which is not wireless. And this only started after going from DSL to cable.
Any ideas? This is not my area of expertise by any means so any thoughts are welcome.
Thanks everyone!

It may or may not be the answer, but is good to try regardless.. run MalwareBytes (free) to rule out malware. If you have a spare network cable, you should replace your current one to rule out that possibility a well.

Okay, so I tried your suggestions and found no malware with MalwareBytes, still same results. But when you said switch the network cable, that reminded me I had it running through my UPS, then to the modem. So I switched to a new cable AND ran it straight from modem to PC, and that did the trick!
Running it though the UPS had no effect whatsoever with my previous modem/internet so I have no idea why it is different with this set up.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for the help!

If it's not too time consuming for you, could you explain what you mean by this? In looking for an answer earlier I saw this suggested but I'm pretty ignorant so I really don't know what it means.
Windows is set to automatically do this and its already filled in in my modem settings.

Thanks again guys for getting this working.
