I have a cooler master hyper 212 evo and I do want to get the 7700k but im worried about the temperature being crazy even at stock and I'm not quite sure that 7 case fans and my cpu cooler is quite going to cut it, if I was to get the 7700k it would be at stock until I could get a better cooler in a few months time, not to mention the added temperature from overclocking my ram, I really don't know what to choose I know the 7700k is a far better choice for gaming...but I've heard of heat issues and it's generally not worth it so i just don't know

Solution
They are fairly close. The 7700k is only 200MHz faster stock speeds, the 6700k will definitely keep up with it. We are talking a handful of FPS max in some games, others less than that.

Those CPUs are essentially the same, they are the same architecture and when clocked at the same speed perform identical. I have read about the heat issues with the 7700k, I am unsure if this has been resolved or if it affects all of them. If you are truly worried about the 7700k heating issue, get the 6700k and overclock it, you wont notice a difference.

I see, and at stock how would the 6700k perform over the 7700k for gaming? I will be overclocking (eventually) if I go with the 6700k
