Trying to do some repairs on a Win 8 pc to upgrade to 10. Can not get ANY mouse to respond. Anyone know a way to only use the keyboard? Can't click on anything like Ease of Access with the mouse. Thanks to all of you smart folks. You are the best resource in the Cyber world.

Might be a no USB3.0 drivers installed. I had that issue with my newest build. ALL the USB ports on my machine are 3.0, and none would work when I tried installing windows. My board did have a single USB 2.0 header on it, which I plugged my cases front 2.0 ports into. Plugging my mouse and keyboard into those ports I was able to finish loading windows. Make sure you are using 2.0 ports.

I remember reading an article that talked about keyboards and mice and working in the BIOS. It suggested that not all USB ports are accessible when doing low-level operations. Often there are two USB 2.0 ports on the far left side of the motherboard's io array. Is your mouse plugged in there?
