at what resolution will you be playing at?

1080p or less your cpu is not good enough to keep up with a 1080 ti

you also dont list your power supply

  2. 1080p should be enough for the moment since I don't have the budget to go for 4k monitor. Power supply is a Antec 520 w power supply. Why did you say cpu is not good enough to keep up with a 1080 ti. What is your suggestion?

  3. At 1080p60fps I would recommend a GTX 1060. At half the cost, you will see very similar performance. Going any higher than the 1060 you will see diminishing returns because the CPU can not keep up with the 1080ti. Also you would need to upgrade the power supply because a 1080ti needs at least a 600w. Plus, if it is a 60Hz monitor, which im assuming it is, you can only see 60fps max anyway, the 1080ti would be way overkill until you upgraded your monitor. At which point you would need a whole new system.

  4. @Hardware Brad I have the budget to go up to 1080ti. I would like to play DOOM and upcoming FARCRY 5 with highest possible graphics. Can a GTX 1060 keep up with my requirement. How about a 1070 or just a 1080 with out the ti. I can upgrade the power supply with what ever the remainder from my budget.

Also can I upgrade my CPU without changing my mother board?

    We need:
    PSU Info
settings & resolution u want to play at
refresh rate of your preference (60 fps / 144 fps)
    to give u detailed suggestion

but overall, judging from the info u give though, most likely u can get a RX 580 / GTX 1060, anything above should be bottlenecked, another alternative though, u can still get 1070 and just upgrade ur CPU to i7 3770k to lessen the bottleneck or even diminish it

Edit: for DOOM, 1060 is most more than enough, though RX 580 might give better fps coz of better compability with vulkan, but for FC5, we will have to w8 for the official requirement later once the game is near release.

as for CPU, i said from above that your mobo can handle up to i7 3770k just fine (LGA 1155 mobo can be used with 2nd/3rd gen CPUs)

the power is wasted if all you have is a 1080p 60hz monitor

a gtx 1070 is more than enough

also yes, the best cpu that motherboard supports is the i7 3770k a fine pair for the gtx 1070
