So...
I ordered a cpu (i5-7600k) about a week ago because that was the one thing that was lacking in my system. I get it, and realize that my old motherboard (msi z97 pc mate) isnt compatible with the new cpu, so i order a new board (z170x-gaming) and put my system back together the way it was. When I tried to turn it on, it turned on but every few seconds it would power off and try again. I did some googling and read that this could be an issue with the psu or the motherboard, so I get a psu tester. everything reads normal (except for the -5v, which i read some psu's don't have, and after looking at the cable mine didn't have any metal in the pin it would be in) so I waited for the new board. the new board comes and lo and behold i need ddr4 ram instead of ddr3. I order new ram (2x8gb kingston hyperx black) and wait. It comes, I plug it in, and the same turning on and turning off after a few seconds, but for some reason this doesn't happen about half the time. The times it doesn't happen I can't get anything on my monitor (tested with gtx 970 and 750ti) or get any of the lights on my mouse or keyboard to light up or do anything when plugged in.

Parts I have (i currently don't have access to the papers with the names of all my parts)
GPUs: gtx 970, gtx 750 ti
CPUs: i5-7600k, unknown cpu compatible with z97 pc mate
PSUs: corsair hx750i, apevia atx-ap800w
HDD: seagate firecuda 2tb
MOTHERBOARDs: msi H170 gaming, z170x-gaming, msi z97 pc mate
RAM: 2x8gb hyperx fury black, 2x4gb adata xpg

Any help, suggestions, or even shot in the dark ideas would be very appreciated.

Solution
The z170 boards will require a BIOS date of post Jan2017 to support 7xxx series of cpus....

Find a friend with a 6100,etc, for you to borrow for 3 min to flash your BIOS...
