I found an option on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-LBS008A-USB-Powered-8-Port-Switch/dp/B0148J50EY

Can a Laptop USB actually supply enough power for these?

The Blackbox website for the model (https://www.blackbox.com/en-us/store/Detail.aspx/8-Port-Fast-Ethernet-Switch/LBS008A) says 3W is its max power draw. However the pdf manual says 4W max power (page 6 of https://az849230.vo.msecnd.net/resources/lbs005a_lbs008a_rev4_21159.pdf)

Either way, USB 3 should supply 900mA or 4.5W right? I have a HP pavilion, which has USB 3.0.

But a support forum answer on the HP site (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/What-isthe-power-output-of-my-USB-port/td-p/5334020) says there are 2 kinds of USB ports, standard (500mA max) and charging (1500mA max).

My laptop's manual says it has standard USB 3.0 ports. It doesn't mention anything about the amperage capacity. (https://support.hp.com/sg-en/product/hp-pavilion-13-a300-x360-convertible-pc/7771383/model/9111946/manuals)

There are power banks that have outlets on them, but in that case a UPS would be better (and cheaper). You aren't going to find a battery powered switch, especially a good one. There is a usb-powered one: https://www.amazon.com/DualComm-5-Port-Ethernet-Switch-Powered/dp/B002BSA7GG/ And you could combine it with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-RAVPower-27000mAh-Universal-Smartphone/dp/B01LCFS9S6/

I don't recommend it though.

Somehow you can have 8 ethernet devices, but no AC power? If you hadn't mentioned the laptop, I would have said this was for use in an experiment or solar powered situation.

What use-case do you have where an ethernet switch is required but AC power is not available?

We do a lot of livestreaming from out in the field (rural India). The power situation is not always reliable. Sometimes we get UPS backup, but mostly not. Thus the oddball situation. The stream goes out over bonded 3G/4G mobile networks (in case you were wondering).
