I have a Internal WD 2TB Green as i used as a slave, I believe by now it must be over 5 or 6 years old by now.

Recently Windows 10 keeps scanning it and "repairing" it with each boot, and even after that, it nags on me on the taskbar from time to time, asking me I should to restart my PC so it can "fix" them.

There is no strange sounds as I would expect from a dying drive, but today. it slowed down to a unusable crawl, so slow I could barely savage anything of it.

I managed to get some decent speed of it in safe mode and savaged all my important data of it, some big files were unreadable and I can't even delete them either.

I had some hidden partitions on it, which I managed to free up to give it more leg room, now it's a full continous D: drive., so now drive has plenty of space, but Windows will always insist it has errors.

And also there seems to be some corrupt big files that are left unreadable and it won't let me delete them either.

Anyway I buying a new one to replace it with, but I would like to be sure, at least now its not so slow and its "readable", but not plan writing anything on it again, and wondering can drives die silently and in this sort of way?

Ok, just checked it with Hard Disk Sentienel.

Performance 100% Excellent
Health 14% Bad

it found 95 bad sectors during its self test
172 weak sectors on the disk surface

Power of time: 672 days, 12 hours
Estimated remaining lifetime: 22 days
Start/Stop count 2,293

This really sounds bad! So I suppose get rid of it and thrash it right?

I had two 2TB Drives installed in 2 different machines, now I installed HD Sentienel is now telling me my remaining one is on the way out also.

210 Bad Sectors on disk surface.

Power on time: 104 days, 22 hours
Estimated Remaining lifetime: 99 days
Total start/stop count: 2,318

I didn't know this drive even had problem, Yet I got dozens of 1TB and 500Gig drives the same age or older still working perfectly.

Is there just something wrong with 2TB Drives?!
