Hi, Im having a bit confusion on deciding between GTX DA 1060 6Gb or RX 580 4Gb + Freesync. RX 580 8gb is out of my budget and so is Gsync monitor. Im concerned about how AMD cards tend to get better overtime, but on the other hand the 1060 has more VRAM which would favor me in texture modding (in this case Skyrim SE). The RX 580 4Gb cost $22 more than the 1060 6gb, that's why this problem comes up. I only game at 1080p, which one is best? Pairing it with Ryzen 5 1600. I won't be upgrading my GPU for at least 2 years too.

Solution
i've got a the 1060 6gb with a Ryzen 1600x. I love it. Perfect for 1080p 100+fps on every game I play at ultra/high settings. I play things like BF1/3/4/HL, Grid Auto, Project Cars, COD franchise and the like. Either card is great for 1080p. Some games favour the 580, others the 1060. I would pick whichever is most suitable for the games you play. WIth that said, if the choice were presented to me, I'd take the 1060 6gb. The extra Vram is good. the only reason i'd think about the 580 is the freesync monitor. The 1060 is also better value than the 4gb 580. RX 470/480/570/580 cost more at the moment because of shortage in supply due to the mining phenomenon that going on right now.

The 8Gb model cost about $73 more here, lol. It is overpriced as hell, I consider myself lucky to find the 1060 with normal price.

agreed. the GTX10xx lineup, seems to have improved for mining. The RX lineup has much better hash results. But a 1060 at a reasonable price is a great gaming chip. I'm happy out with mine. It's an Asus Dual 1060, it's white with RGB and goes great with my case, RGB mobo setup.
