Hi I'm currently running a i7-4790K Devil's Canyon on an ASUS H81M-K motherboard which does not allow overclocking. I'm looking to replace it with a different Micro-ATX Z-Series motherboard that will allow me to overclock the chip. Any recommendations? Preferably under $100.

Do you have appropriate cpu cooler and PSU for overclocking already?
How much performance increase do you hope to gain from OC?
10% ? 15% ?
IMHO - it just isn't worth the expenses.

i7 4790k is the cheaper version of i7 7700k. Both runs hot due to bad TIM between the die and the hs and that is the fact. Although i7 4790k is 2 generations behind i7 7700k, it still a great gaming CPU in 2017.

Delid i7 4790k and apply coollabatory liquid pro on the die, and you can see massive temp drop to 15C or 20C.
