Hello everyone, I need some pointers on my I7-7700k cpu i run about 40-50c idle with light tasks on chrome then ingame i reach about 80c sometimes peaking to 85c.

my cpu cooler is cm hyper evo 212 with 2 120mm fans at 1000rpm yes the fans are 100% in bios i dont care for quite fans i just always have all my 10 case fans 100%

my full specs can be found here. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/HoloTheNudeWolf/saved/#view=CRzbvK

either way i think it could be my paste (new silver 5 recently applied too) or the fans them self not creating airflow. also should my side fans pull or push air through the case? my 2 front fans seem to pull and my rear fan pushes while my 2 side fans push also. and my heatsink fan looks like this

diagram example ->|z|<-
-> <- being the fan direction and |z| being the heatsink

any and all help to reach lower temps would be nice
PS no overclocking included just default clocks.

What the... From your diagram...
Do both of the fans push air?? Like one is pushing air to the heatsink from the left and one is pushing air from the right?? So in a way they are working against each other???
If this is the case. Then flip one of the fans to pull! So it would be like this: (using your diagram)

Your setup --- > | z | < ---

Correct setup < --- | z | < ---

Never ever run fans in a push / push setup!

Use either a single fan setup in: push or pull
With 2 fans you run: push / pull

Fix this first then do a new reading of temps and post them here.

correct i get around that though when i had my fx 8350 on the same cooler i was seeing 12c idle and 35c gaming
intel is so weird XD but im never going back to amd intel is the best thing that happened to me.

AMD is using solder between the cpu die and heatspreader.
Intel is using thermal paste between the cpu die and heatspreader.

One of the reason why you have the temps you have.
If you are nuts when it comes to temps and just want to have them as low as you can go. Then I am affraid you have to delid the 7700k and swap out the thermal paste for liquid metal.

yeah i watched a video where there is a tool that you can buy for 20$ to delid your cpu and put thermal compund or liquid metal to get lower temps and use some sort of glue to glue it for 24 hours then it should work after that pretty straight forward process. ill think about it. thank you for your replys everyone i have ok temps now and no more throttling im new to intel based systems but im still learning.

This is the delid tool I used and several others use it. Easy to got step by step videos on the delid prosess:

The glue the IHS back part... Meeeeh... Depends. I will not swap this cpu for any other on the current motherboard I am using atm, and so I just use the cpu socket lock to clamp the IHS down in the cpu PCB and works like a charm, got to be carefull doing this tho :)

Do think about delid since you have to keep in mind it will be on your own risk since there is a slim chance (all down to you) that you will kill the cpu.

The ones that should consider a delid is the ones that wanna push the overclock to the max or that struggles with high temps overall (80+ celcius)
