Do I buy a new CPU and Motherboard, or just buy a new CPU?

Okay so here's what i've got going on. Im tired of dealing with the faulty temp sensor on my cpu throttling itself, so I have 2 options.

Option 1: Buy a new CPU and Motherboard with a budget of $200
Option 2: Buy just a new CPU (must be AM3+ socket) with a budget of $200

I currently have the AMD FX 8310, which is having that sensor problem. I am thinking about buying the FX 8350 to replace it.

So the question is, would it be better to go with the 8350, or find a new board and cpu combo for under $200? And if I should go with the combo, what would I get? The combo must be suitable to smoothly run games like GTA V.

Since a fx 8350 gets beaten in games by a cheap pentium g4560 you should not invest in the old am3+ platform.

With 200 you won't be able to get a new cpu+motherboard+ram.
Best value atm is a ryzen 3 + b350 board + 8gb of ddr4 which would set you back about 250$.

If I were you I would try and find a used 83xx for a bargain. With the Ryzen lineup out, those chips should be pretty cheap. I would look for it around $50. That will tie you over until you can save enough for a step above the Ryzen 3 and just go for a Ryzen 1600. You might be able to pull a Ryzen 1600, Mobo, and RAM for $300 and it would be a significant improvement from the Ryzen 3 and light years ahead of your 8350.

He already has a 8310 and those are just downclocked 8350's. A simple oc will get him at the 8350 level or beyond.
