Hi everyone,
I heard that when OC an i5 4670k messing with the power saving features doesn't make much of a difference. Several guides seem to support this, however whilst i was testing different voltages i noticed they absolutely do, at least in my case. I've got my cpu to 4.3ghz on 1.236v.
The settings I'm talking about in particular are:
CPU Enhanced halt(C1E)
C3 State Support
C6/C7 State Support
CPU EIST Function
If i don't have these 4 settings disabled in my bios then i will bsod even if i pump the voltage up to 1.26 and lower the clock speed to 4ghz
What are these settings exactly and why are they making such a huge difference to my OC when i was under the impression the i5 4670k didn't benefit from having it's power saving features disabled. My motherboard is a gigabyte Z87-HD3
Thank you in advance for any insight you can offer, I really want to know if it's safe or advisable to disable these settings.
