Computer turning off without warning

Ok so long story short, I have a friend with a computer that's turning itself off for no clear reason. And this had been happening only if the GPU was installed but earlier today it turned off even though there was no GPU inside.
Things I have tried having him doing:
Re-seat RAM/GPU
Take out/put back in the CMOS battery
Replace CMOS battery
Watch CPU temps (Watched for a few minutes right after startup and nothing was wrong, could still
be getting too hot after a while I assume, he has an AIO cooler which is a year
old so I can't imagine why that would be having an issue, and the radiator isn't
coated with dust so it does have airflow.)

If anyone has an idea of what's going on and how to fix it I would love to hear it because I'm out of ideas. He is coming over to pick up my old power supply and try putting that in tomorrow to make certain that isn't the issue but now that the computer turned off with no GPU I am second guessing my original assumption that the PSU is the problem. Will update after he tests with my PSU which is definitely good.

Wow, I forgot about this post :p. We ended up finding out that his CPU block had a crack in it and had leaked, replacing the cooler has fixed the issue ;)

The answer lie within the text, definitely GPU since you said the computer only turning off it the GPU as installed.

Actually if you had read closer you'd see it turned off even without the GPu installed. So It is actually unlikely it is the GPU causing the issue. My first guess would be the power supply unit. What are the complete system specs? make and model of everything....especially the power supply.
