Hello,

I recently swapped out my i5-6600k for an i7-7700k, and also upgraded my AIO CPU water cooler as well to a NZXT Kraken x61. When I tried the new i7 everything boots up but nothi appears on screen, but when I tried with my old i5, it told me that the fans of the CPU cooler weren't at optimal rpm so it let me enter the BIOS to change it, and it's been fine since then.

I'm wondering could it be a faulty i7? Or am I just missing something?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Specs:

i5-6600k/i7-7700k
GTX 1080
EVGA 750w
ASUS z170-p

Solution

Install the i5 back in, get the latest UEFI from you motherboards website. Use a USB flash drive to create UEFI setup (look for instructions on how to do that- I recommend using Rufus). After that just enter the BIOS and boot from the propely formatted USB drive. Detailed instructions are found on your motherboard manufacturers website.

bios needs to be updated before the 7700k will work
