asus rog maximus ix hero how do we activate the additional pcie lanes?

im having an issue where my mobo wont detect my second card in pciex8_2
i think i need to activate the additional pcie lane in order for the card to show up
because its not showing up in bios either if anyone knows how to activate the
additional pcie lanes the info would be great!

yes i used the one i already owned than i used the one that came with the mobo still its not picking up the second card

Try swapping the 2nd card with the first card, see if the 2nd one is dead.

already tested both the cards nothin wrong with em i even updated bios cleared c mos and removed the battery :(

from what i can see no there isnt
i was trying to figure out if there was a way to turn on the additional pcie lane im gonna look around in bios more i know in bios advanced/system agent (SA) configuration/graphics configuration
on primary display i can see PEG and IGFX and AUTO i see no PCI option
i have it turned on to PEG because i believe it turns on intergrated graphics
i did that because i thought it was messing with the second card but it isnt

when i click on the primary display option i see ( select IGFX/PEG/PCI )
but i dont see pci instead all i see is IGFX/PEG/AUTO

I initially had trouble with my sli config also, my problem was the second card was not properly seated, I thought that it was but I needed to apply just a tad more force in the second slot. I know it seems silly but please check this!

lol i dont know how much force i would need to put into it i tried reseating my cards idk how many times out of all the times i tried reseating em the bottom slot i had to manually lock in the latch myself everytime uhhh maybe i should try again???

i dont think that would be the issue though i applied alot of force into it before and still nothing

IDK man, same board and i had the same problem, i thought it was in but i had to latch it myself. Finally i got it in just right and it latched. I am by no means saying this is what your problem is, but it very well could be. Take the top card out and put the bottom one in first, and just make sure you cant see any pins or anything. I ended up having to turn my computer on its side.
