Terho,

Your Core temperatures are well within Intel's Thermal Specifications.

As you may know, there are actually two different Q6600's; the original B3 at 105 Watts TDP, and the later G0 at 95 Watts TDP, which is a better processor. Intel's Product Specifications website does not differentiate TDP between these processors, but the Datasheet does.

• Product Specifications - http://ark.intel.com/products/29765/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q6600-8M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB
• Datasheet (see Section 5) - http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/31559205.pdf

Throttle temperature (Tj Max) for the Q6600 G0 is 100°C. Regardless, you should not exceed 85°C Core temperature (less than 80°C is recommended) or 1.5 Core voltage (Vcore)...

Throttle temperature (Tj Max) for the Q6600 G0 is 100°C. Regardless, you should not exceed 85°C Core temperature (less than 80°C is recommended) or 1.5 Core voltage (Vcore).

Although 3.0GHz at stock Vcore is an easy overclock, most Q6600 G0 CPU's will overclock to 3.6GHz (9 Multiplier x 400MHz FSB). You could also try 3.2GHz (8 Multiplier x 400MHz FSB), which may be stable without manually increasing Vcore.

At 3.6HGz you'll need a better cooler than Intel's stock cooler due to the necessity for higher Vcore to maintain stability, which will result in higher Core temperatures.
