Solution
Taken from the Intel website:

The 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors and 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors use the same LGA1155 socket providing, for the most part, backward and forward compatibility.

The most recent desktop boards based on the Intel® 6 Series Chipset include an updated BIOS and firmware. But, many Intel® 6 Series Chipset Boards require BIOS, ME8, and driver updates in order to support 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors. Check with the board manufacturer, before the update, to verify your board supports the upgrade.

For desktop boards based on the Intel® Q67 Express Chipset, Intel® Q65 Express Chipset, or Intel® B65 Express Chipset, upgrading to a 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processor is not possible...

SHORT answer is all the 2nd and 3rd gen chips use the LGA1175 type socket. Which is the same as your board and it is also an H61 Express Chipset.
