Hello, I asked many people over the phone at computer stores, and nobody has heard of this issue apparently.. I can't even find the answer online.

So, I have an MSI laptop, everything is up to date completely, I ran software to take away any viruses if any, and went as far as factory resetting my laptop.
What the issue is, is when I download ANYTHING or simply watch youtube or game, every few seconds (sometimes longer) my computer will go slow motion and make crackling sounds too. I cant even get through a video on youtube without wanting to throw my laptop.
My mouse moves slowly, videos play slow mo, and sound crackles. A few seconds later, its normal again... 5-10 secs later, it happens again.
From time to time i get the blue crash screen too, happens way too much for my liking.
When I restart my computer its fine... for a little while. a few hours later (sometimes right away) it happens all over again.
I'm not sure if its a hardware issue, or something else.

Has anyone else come across this?? If so, please help me.
Thank you

Hello,

It's very unlikely to be software related. Although I've never owned an MSI laptop I've worked in the industry for years. You are most likely encountering a failing logic board. When chips get too hot they begin to fail - this is most likely why it happens when you are watching videos as this activity tends to tax the CPU/GPU. The stuttering could be the result of the chips thermally throttling themselves and the crackling audio could just be the chips/audio components being in close proximity.

You could run a system monitor software to try and see if your processor is temp spiking when the issue happens. Depending on the age of the device it may be economical to repair but I've found that more often than not you'll find...

Stumbled upon this thread as my computer is doing exactly what the OP wrote. My system is watercooled with low temps and load usually in the single digits. Any other ideas? Like the OP, I can't even listen to music on youtube or watch game videos in steam.

Thanks.
