I thought this was a simple decision to just go for the cheaper one but I wasn't exactly sure if there was a difference I wasn't seeing. It seems like the gaming version is underclocked slightly? Or I guess the Gaming X is overclocked rather.

Anyone see a difference between these 2? Is this normal they have a Gaming and Gaming X?

50 bucks for slight underclock and I'm sure I can probly just OC myself in MSI Afterburner. BUT I just wanted to post here for anyone to correct me if I'm wrong.

MSI Gaming X is factory overclocked. Go for the gaming version and OC it like you said. There is also a Gaming Z version which has RGB lights in the MSI's logo on the back plate.

Why not go for the Asus STRIX? You won't have to deal with those red front lights. The Asus STRIX is pure RGB where as the MSI isn't.

Thanks for the quick reply. My choices were...

ASUS STRIX - 800 - best cooling and no coil whine
EVGA FTW3 - 770 - best boost clocks, 3 fans, great temps but loud, good customer service
EVGA SC2 - 750 - great temps but loud, good customer service
MSI GAMING (X) - 730 (780) - great temps out of box and quiet, possible coil whine

with these choices I've seen benchmarks and 5-10fps difference will not sway me to pay more lol. As for the RGBs I'm not too picky about it where I want to pay more for a better custom look. I do agree though MSI should sway from their dragon red/black theme (I have the non TI version). MSI it is though! thanks for reply :)
