I was looking at various aging LGA 1366 CPUs. I noticed that although the Xeon W3670 and the i7-970 are basically the same chip, the i7-970 always runs roughly twice the cost of the Xeon on the used market. Why?
If anything the Xeon should be slightly preferred. It has trusted computing and can use less expensive ECC RAM.
