Hi all,
3 quick questions.
1) I bought my 212 EVO back in 2012. I know the new ones say they work with socket 1151, Will my old one?
2) If the above answer is "Yes", is it adequate to cool an i7-7700k?
3) Do you think it is worth waiting for Coffee Lake or I'll just get a used 7700k and mobo.

Solution
It may need a bracket to be able to mount.
I'd call coolermaster and ask them for verification, they may even send you the brackets to make it work if needed.

UNIVERSAL MOUNTING SOLUTION
Supports the latest sockets from Intel and AMD.
Is what you are after and or confirmation that what you have will work with 1151.

It is indeed adequate, the cpu only has a tdp of 91 watts.
For comparison my i7-4930k has a tpd of 130 watts and I'm using the same cooler.

We won't know until its released but Intel has a history of only like 10% gains over the last generation.
Maybe competition from AMD changes this.
