Hello all,
i'm trying to upgrade my 6 years old com to run programs and game faster. These days, i'm mostly editting and converting video, and play some game like Dreadnought. I would love to get faster coverting speed and play game smoother in medium to high setting. I don't have much expertise in regards to building PC's but still can put things together.

Current build is:
CPU; i5 2400 3.1GHz
Motherboard; ASRock H61M/U3S3
GPU; gigabyte radeon hd 6950
HD; (1)Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD, (2)Samsung
HD103SJ 1TB, (3)Western Digital WD Green WD10EADS 1TB
PSU; Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520, 80 PLUS BRONZE, 520 Watt
Case; Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower
Monitor; Asus VH242H 23.6-Inch Full-HD LCD Monitor
RAM; DDR3 8GB

From my research;
CPU; Ryzen 5 1600 <-- no idea what different from 1600x $200
Motherboard; GIGABYTE GA-AB350-Gaming 3 <-- ? $120
GPU; Radeon RX 470 GAMING X 8G ? 4G? no clue for price
RAM; CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 $147.99
Cooler; Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan? $29.99

If possible, i would like to make this upgrade last for another 4-6 years.
My buget is around $400-600

Thank you very much for your time,

Actually, you are bang on with your upgrade research. The Ryzen 5 1600 is the best price to performance ratio chip available right now in that price segment.

If want to multitask, I would extrememy recommend the Ryzen 1700 as it provides 8 cores which is highly efficent for multitasking, video editing and for CPU intensive games. However this will need to come wiith RAM and a new motherboard. I have the 1600 and it works really good with all games at high settings.

No, you dont need a new case, but a new PSU would be advisable. You also dont need a new SSD or a HDD; I just included all that if you prefer an entire new build because i have seen a lot of people keeping their old system as a backup.
