Any better CPU for my Dell XP8500 than a core i7 3770 in a FCLGA 1155 socket?

I've SEARCHed, but no one has asked a question quite like mine--that I can find.

Instead of spending $2500 for a new computer and then months reinstalling software, I'd like to improve my current Dell XP8500 tower machine purchased a bit over 4 years ago. I've installed two SSDs--an Intel 810 (I think; might be an 820) system drive and a Sandisk 480G data drive--and maxed RAM at 16GB. I'm a fotografer and use Photoshop intensively, but that's the only heavy-duty processing I do. I run W7Pro currently but will be upgrading to 10 soon.

Is the core i7 3770 the best I can do?

The 3770 is practically the best you can do. Because you can't overclock on that motherboard there wouldn't be a difference between the 3770 and 3770K. That system with a 3770 would be pretty good. There wouldn't honestly be much reason to go for the 7700K and spend so much more money and so much more time having to set everything back up the way you want it.
