G'day, My computer is a Dell Poweredge T110 II. It has 8GB of RAM.
My Ram is:
Hynix 8GB 2Rx8 PC3L -10600E -9 11 - E3
HMT41GU7MFR8A - H9 T0 AE 1214.

I bought Hynix 8GB 2Rx4PC3L - 10600R - 9 - 10 - E1
HMT31GR7BFR4A - H9 T2 AB 1136. MY error, I didn't read well enough and photo had a heatshield over the RAM so I couldn't match the chips

The bought RAM will not fire up the computer. Fan runs etc but no screen.

Should it work?
I have tried it in all slots on its own and together.
Computer runs together but new memory does not show in BIOS.
Regards, Joe

What exactly is your issue?

Try MemTest86 to see if the RAM is faulty:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2048282/how-to-find-out-if-your-ram-is-defective.html

Edit - make sure there is a slot gap between your RAM. Do NOT have them connected next to each other.

Either your motherboard supports DDR4 or DDR3. If you purchase the right type then you should be fine. I would recommend you check on your motherboards website on compatibility to see if that ram is listed. If not then don't expect the ram to run at full performance.

Thanks for the response. Yes there is a gap and its in the No 3 Slot. Yes, I made a blue and did not buy what I thought I was buying. it was supposed to be identical.
I have not tried Dell but from experience I know that they are far from helpful. Myopic in fact when asked about what they dont want to talk about Nothing exists in the computer world if its not Dell..

As I said I did not look closely enouigh before I bought. (eyes are ageing).
Issue is if it will work my computer is DDR 3 and its ECC.
Now, I have described that nothing fires up. Fan does and it ups and downs speeds but nothing on the monitor.
I'm not sure how I can do a memtest when it is not seen.
Or will memtest do what the BIOS wont and see it?
Computer runs with the No 1 module in and the new in the slot.
I know now that I did not buy the exact RAM. But my question is will it work or will it not, should it work?
It came from the US and I'm in Philippines so I wont be exchanging it.
A useful contribiution from someone who knows the difference between the two is or will be helpful.
Thanks.

Yes. You can have RAM with different brands; however the RAM has to be identical. You cannot pair a corsair 8 gb stick with another company's 4gb ram.

If the fans are working than the PSU is good. What other components are not working? Is the monitor plugged into the GPU? Make sure the PSU is connected to the GPU.
