AMD has released new video cards, but why not an advanced HDMI 2.1 connection?
HDMI 2.0 outdated, full of problems, fits up to 1.5 meters.
Up to 8 BIT color 4: 4: 4
HDR is very weak

HDMI 2.1 Announced: Supports 8Kp60, Dynamic HDR, New Color Spaces, New 48G Cable

Even companies that manufacture receivers have told me that they do not spend new and expensive receivers,
Because no one will buy a receiver that in a few months is not suitable for 2018 TVs with an HDMI 2.1 connection

Solution

it is completely relevant to when they developed the card. If they'd decided to adopt hdmi 2.1, Vega would have been delayed even further

DP 1.4 came out well before hdmi 2.1

Not a lot of hardware out there is utilising hdmi 2.1 yet
Vega was in development long before 2.1 was announced, so it was likely to late in the process to add it in.

Also there are likely no hdmi 2.1 devices yet anyways.

Also Displayport is still around and extremely good/better than HDMI 2.0, so just use displayport enabled device.

What is relevant when they designed the card?
The card has no taste and is already outdated.

The new specification will be available to all HDMI 2.0 Adopters and they will be notified when it is released early in Q2 2017.

Half a year AMD knew there was a new standard!
DP 1.4 came out after HDMI 2.1 and there are already in video cards!

Yeah big mistake IMO considering HDMI 2.1 supports variable refresh (like freesync), allowing one to use freesync over HDMI once the screen manufacturers get on it.

or just use diaplayport which already does that. and doesn't have any licensing fees associated with it like HDMI does.
