AMD 1700 (Not even overclocked yet) High Temperature reading

Here is my build
NZXT Phantom 410
msi tomahawk artic atx
AMD 1700 (not overclocked)
Celsius S24 Fractal Design
16GB Ballistic DDR4
750w PSU Cooler Master
GTX Armor 1080
2 ssd's
2 hdd's

Now i just installed my celsius yesterday and my buddy told me yesterday not to forget about the 20c that AMD says they added to 'protect' the cpu like wtf!!!!

My temperatures are the same accross the board through all the software that i verified on. My bios is at the latest from msi software (version 7A34vH5). I verified the temps on various sotware and they are all the same: CAM, HW Monitor, CPU Z, Ryzen Master, BIOS(i was shocked to see the same temps in my bios).

Ok so enough rambling my temps are at 40c on idle gets as low as 38c and as high as 45c. Then I was like ill trying gaming for an hour or so on Rocket League I know its not a demanding title. After keeping an eye out on HW Monitor my temps did not pass 58c after an hour. My voltage is .98 stock no overclocking i'm just so confused. I had better cooling performance on my 212 evo on my 8320 build. I forgot to say I was getting the same temps when I had my wrath cooler on the cpu,

Please give me suggestions or your experiences!!!!!

What's the ambient temp (room temperature)?

Suggestions:

Try to remount the cooler
Try a lower voltage. The "auto" setting can set voltage pretty high. For stock clocks, you should be able to run 1.275v or lower.
Get a better quality thermal paste
Open the side of the case, if temps drop dramatically, you have an air flow problem

At this point, it could be any number of things, or a combination of them.

Are you using the wraith spire cooler on the 1700 or an aftermarket one?

Those temps are pretty similar to what I have for idle on mine. When running handbrake my temps get up to 68. I actually have the AI Suite (on my asus b350-f) set to decrease clock back to 3500mhz to prevent it from getting too hot or crashing.

Boosted1g im using the celsius s24 now

Vellinious My room temps vary from 25 -27
Should i mount the aio with the non pre applied paste
im using an aio though the phantom 410 it is not very good with air flow but i have all the fan slots taken
its why i wanted an aio plus i will try core temps tonight cause i heard there is a 20c offset on ryzen

Paste will make 2-3 C difference tops.

I still don't see where the problem lies, 40C might simply be a function of the fan profile and the pump speed, i.e. it's all running slowly because it's cool. 58 at load is also fine because it's running fast fan and pump speeds.

40c is a tad high for idle temps, especially at stock clocks. I listed a few things you could try in my first post.

The FX series processors, btw, never displayed correct temps at idle.....they were always pretty far off. Your 8320 was very likely running much warmer than that at idle. Especially since you say your room temps are about 25c. An idle of 21c would be impossible.

This is completely normal for ryzen 7 cpu. Every body has those temps on the r7 series I have a little lower from the 40c I'm at 38c depending on what im doing sorry for making a wasted thread on this subject I really want to when i have it overclocked

Everybody has those temps? Uh, no.....The 1700X I have in a test rig on stock clocks idles at about 6c above ambient on water cooling (ambient 21c / idle temps 27c). The 1600X I have in my main rig is the same way. And the 1600X is overclocked....the core clock never clocks down.

Especially on stock clocks...at idle the voltage drop very low, as do the clocks. There's absolutely no reason a CPU at idle, should be seeing those kinds of temps....unless on air, with way too much voltage running through it.

Well why would I get those temps then I don't get it even if my ambiant temp in the room is high it's not going to jack it to the low 40c what are you running as your aio and what is the ambiant temp in your room

20c-21c ambient temp. Idle temps are consistently 5c or 6c above ambient. Temps are relatively the same thing on my Intel rigs. If I were idling at higher than 10c above ambient, I'd be wondering what was wrong....and probably do a remount with better thermal paste.

Custom loop on the 1600X and an Corsair H110i on the 1700X.

The fans were not placed right now im achieving 32c with a ambiant temp of 27c I lost 10c just because my fans were not placed right!!! so disapointed in my self like wtf am i doing by pushing hot air in my case lol
